The friars at Convento San Serafín serve their local community in a variety of ways. Among the largest works of the friars are their work at the St. Benedict Joseph Medical Center, Casa Guadalupe apostolic center, and the orphanage Hogar Nazaret.
St. Benedict Joseph Medical Center, named for St. Benedict Joseph Labre, but also for our own Fr. Benedict, is a medical center offering basic health services to the poorest people from Comayagua and the outlying mountain villages. Three to four doctors, one dentist, and a psychologist see patients daily. Five to six times a year, SBJ sponsors surgical brigades from the States for a week of surgeries, serving as many as a hundred people.

The Missionaries will be living in a community adjacent to the Friary leading a life of prayer, service and evangelization. Accommodations, food and basic needs will be provided.
